This resource guide provides answers to many of the frequently asked questions on how to have the best experience with the library resources and services.

Mobile Apps

You can use mobile apps or mobile optimized web interface or web apps to access some of the library resources. This page provides instructions on how to activate your mobile devices to access those resources.


Q: How to use AccessMedicine mobile app?

  1. From AccessMedicine website, click on “University of Tennesse” on the upper right corner of the screen, then click on “Create a Free Personal Account”
  2. Complete the registration form, including your user name and password, and click “Create Account”
  3. From you mobile device, download the appropriate app: iOS-Apple-iPhone-iPad or Android
  4. Once downloaded, login with your personal account created in step one

NOTE: You will need to login to your personal account using the link above, every 90 days for continued access to the app.

Annual Reviews Mobile

Q: How to access Annual Reviews Mobile?

  1. Create or login Annual Reviews to get the pairing code
  2. Once logged in, a pairing code will be generated. It is valid for 24 hours and needs to be entered into your mobile device as soon as possible.
  3. On your iPhone or iPad, go to and click the Settings icon (2nd from right) at the top of screen and then Device Pairing. Scroll down and enter the code you received on your desktop computer.
  4. You should then receive a “Device pairing successful” message. Your mobile device is now linked to your Annual Reviews account. It is also paired with the library’s subscriptions, granting you full-text access for Annual Reviews content for a period of 6 months.

NOTE: after 6 months, you will need to re-pair your mobile device by repeating the above steps to generate a new and valid pairing code.

Q: How to use CINAHL mobile app?

  1. Click CINAHL from the library's home page
  2. Click iPhone and Android apps at the very bottom of the page. 
  3. Enter your UTHSC email address to receive instructions, authentication key, and a link to download the app
  4. Check your email inbox for instructions

NOTE: You must access the email instructions from your device. The activation link will expire in 24 hours.

MobileMicromedex Apps

Q: How to access Micromedex Apps on Apple®, Android® and Windows 8® Devices?

Micromedex offers three apps to access its full content: Drug References, Interactions, and Compatability. 

  1. Visit the iTunes App Store (Apple devices), Google Play Store (Android devices) or the Windows Store (Windows 8 devices) and search for Micromedex. Download the apps to your device.
  2. Go to Micromedex from the library’s home page and log in using your NetID and password.
  3. Click Download Mobile Apps in the lower right corner.
  4. Follow the instructions and get the password to active your apps on your mobile devices.

NOTE: You will be asked to update your password on an annual basis. When your password is expired, log in Micromedex to obtain the new password.

SciFinder Mobile

 Q: How to use SciFinder Mobile?

  1. Open SciFinder web access registration form and click Next
  2. Follow the on screen instruction to complete the registration. The registration process requires,, or e-mail account.
  3. You will receive an e-mail from CAS to complete the registration.
  4. Point your mobile device (iPhone/iTouch, Android, Nokia, Blackberry) to
  5. Enter your user name and password

Stat!Ref Nursing

Q: How to use Stat!Ref Nursing mobile app?

  1. On a desktop computer, create a personal account with Stat!Ref Nursing. If you are off campus, first log in to the library with your NetID and password.
  2. Go to Stat!Ref “My STAT!Ref” tab from the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Enter your username (email address) and password
  4. Go to the “Temporary Login Account” tab and click on the “Activate/Renew” tab. Now you can use your Stat!Ref personal account login to access Stat!Ref Nursing from your mobile device for 365 days.
  5. On your mobile device, download Stat!Ref app from the iTunes App Store. For Android, download here. And for Blackberry, download here.
  6. Tap the app icon and enter the login information.

UpToDate Mobile App

Q: How to use UpToDate app on your mobile devices?

  1. From a desktop/laptop computer, Go to UpToDate. Enter NetID and password.
  2. Click the button 'Login/register" from the top right of the screen and create a free personal account.
  3. You will receive a confirmation email from UpToDate.
  4. Download UpToDate apps from your device and login with the username and password from your personal account you just created.
  5. You will receive a reminder from UpToDate to log in to UpToDate from a desktop/laptop computer using the link on the UTHSC Library homepage every 90 days.
