Mobile Resources: Library Licensed Mobile Applications

Library Licensed Mobile Applications

The mobile applications below are licensed by the University to grant access with your UTHSC NetID. Each box below will outline key features and tips on easy access, as some apps require more than a simple download.

UpToDate

UpToDate is a clinical decision support resource with evidence-based clinical information -- including drug topics and recommendations that clinicians rely on at the point of care. The app supports calculators, drug interactions, and other topic-specific pages including patient information.

Features:

  • Earn and track CME/CE/CPD credit
  • Bookmark and history of searches
  • Printable and shareable graphics 

Installation instructions: 

  1. From a desktop/laptop computer, Go to UpToDate. Enter NetID and password.
  2. Click the button 'Login/register" from the top right of the screen and create a free personal account.
    You will receive a confirmation email from UpToDate.
  3. Download the app:   ITunes app store logo     Google Play store logo
  4. Login with the username and password from your personal account you just created.
  5. You will receive a reminder from to log in to UpToDate from a desktop/laptop computer every 90 days.

Micromedex

Micromedex offers three mobile applications: Drug Reference, Drug Interactions, and IV Compatibility. Each have their own Installation Instructions. Go here to visit the Micromedex homepage, then select "Download Mobile Apps" in bottom right corner. Passcodes to access the app are updated regularly; be sure to go back and check when it asks for a new passcode. 

IV Compatibility enhances patient safety by pinpointing potentially dangerous intravenous combinations.

Installation instructions: 

  1.  Download the app:       
  2. Open the app. Enter the password to begin using IBM Micromedex IV Comp. The password is case-sensitive. Please enter it exactly as it appears.

Drug Interaction allows clinicians to check a patient's entire medication list simultaneously for potentially harmful interactions and view severity ratings.

Installation instructions:

  1. Download the app:       
  2. Open the app. Enter the password to begin using IBM Micromedex Drug Int. The password is case-sensitive. Please enter it exactly as it appears.

Drug Reference provides clinical care professionals with on-the-go access to the industry’s most trusted drug information, when and where it’s needed most.

Installation instructions: 

  1. Download the app:       
  2. Open the app. Enter the password to begin using IBM Micromedex Drug Ref. The password is case-sensitive. Please enter it exactly as it appears.

 

VisualDx

VisualDx is an award-winning diagnostic clinical decision support system designed to enhance diagnostic accuracy, aid therapeutic decisions, and improve patient safety via medical imagery.

Features:

  • Earn CME certification
  • Smart search for complaints, diagnoses, and drug reactions
  • Customize patient-specific differential diagnosis builder

Installation instructions: 

  1. From a desktop/laptop computer, go to VisualDx.
  2. Enter NetID and password.
  3. Click the button “Create a Personal Account” from the bottom middle of the screen and create a free personal account.
  4. You will receive a confirmation email from VisualDX.
  5. Download the app:            
  6. Login with the username and password from your personal account you just created.

AccessMedicine

The AccessMedicine App delivers point of care solutions for clinical practice.

Features:

  • Quick Medical Dx & Tx is a collection of concise evidence-based outlines of conditions and disorders most often encountered in medical practice – perfect for high-yield review or for quick reference in the clinical setting.
  • Fitzpatrick’s Color Atlas of Clinical Dermatology facilitates dermatologic diagnosis by providing color images of skin lesions, plus a summary outline of skin disorders and diseases. 
  • Differential Diagnosis Tool provides more than 1,000 diagnoses through Diagnosaurus®, a McGraw-Hill Medical tool that efficiently allows you to browse by symptom, disease, or organ system at the point of care.
  • Diagnostic Tests, from Pocket Guide to Diagnostic Tests, is a quick reference guide to the selection and interpretation of commonly used diagnostic tests, including laboratory procedures in the clinical setting.

Installation instructions: 

  1. From a desktop/laptop computer, go to AccessMedicine
  2. Select "Sign In" from the top right of the screen and create a free personal account.
  3. Download the app:        
  4. Login with the username and password from your personal account you just created.
  5. You will receive a reminder from to log in to AccessMedicine from a desktop/laptop computer every 90 days.

 

ClinicalKey

ClinicalKey helps clinicians access evidence-based, peer reviewed information with the goal of improving patient outcomes and lowering the high cost of care.
 

Features:
• Persistent login
• Ability to bookmark and save items
• Access to full-text books, full-text journals, guidelines, multimedia and more

 

Installation instructions: 

  1. On a desktop or laptop, go to ClinicalKey and register a personal account with your UTHSC email as username. 
    • NOTE: once registered you must also request remote access for your email address at https://www.clinicalkey.com/#!/remote-access , however you must use the non-proxied link.  The remote access request won't work if you are logged in through proxy: www-clinicalkey-com.ezproxy.uthsc.edu
    • You will then receive an email with link to click to confirm your request. You'll need to do this within 60 minutes.
  2. Download the app:      
  3.  Login with your registered account information. 
  4. Note: You will need to renew Remote access at least every 180 days (6 months).  As of Jan. 2022, you will NOT receive a renewal reminder email from ClinicalKey

BrowZine

Use BrowZine to easily find, read, and monitor thousands of scholarly journals available from UTHSC Library subscriptions, or through Open Access publishers, covering all disciplines.  

Features:

  • Browse titles by subject to easily find journals of interest
  • Easily view table of contents of current and past journals
  • Create a personal bookshelf of favorite journals
  • Save articles to EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero, RefWorks, Dropbox, and other services
  • Share with other researchers by posting to Facebook, Twitter and more

STAT!Ref

STAT!Ref is a healthcare e-resource enabling users to cross-search full-text, evidence-based and authoritative resources. 

Features:

  • Selection of e-books 
  • EBMcalc: a tool for medical equations, decision trees, conversions, and more

Installation instructions: 

  1. From a desktop/laptop computer, go to STAT!Ref via the library's website.
  2. In the box titled "Personalized Profile", create an account using your UTHSC email address.
  3. Access your account settings where it says "Welcome (Your Name)!"
  4. Select Anywhere Login Account, and Activate your account. This step will allow you to use STAT!Ref on a mobile device.
  5. Download the app:        
  6. Login with the username and password from your personal account you just created. It will not acknowledge you without activating your account as shown in Step 4.

DynaMed

DynaMed is a point-of-care tool, providing content written by physicians who synthesize the evidence and provide objective analysis to help clinicians in their daily practice.

Installation Instructions:

1. From a desktop/laptop computer, go to DynaMed from the library's website and create a Personal User Account. 

2. Download the app:  

3. On the app, use the credentials you just created to sign in. This authentication type provides access personalized features including CME/CE/CPD tracking and favorite/recent topics.

 

 

The DynaMed App for Apple iOS devices requires:

  • Any iPhone® or iPad® or iPod touch® running iOS 10.0 or higher
  • Requires at least 899 MB of memory for the Full Install (full images downloaded)
    -OR-
    Requires at least 670.8 MB of memory for the Partial Install (full images access via internet connection)
    -OR-
    Requires at least 93.5 MB of memory for the Online Only Install. (all content and images accessible via internet connection.)

The DynaMed App for Android devices requires:

  • Any Android device running Android 5.0 or higher
  • Requires at least 899 MB of memory for the Full Install (full images downloaded)
    -OR-
    Requires at least 671 MB of memory for the Partial Install (full images access via internet connection)
    -OR-
    Requires at least 94 MB of memory for the Online Only Install. (all content and images accessible via internet connection.)
